After trying a few Marquee and Late Show Martinis, the group sauntered across glowing Granville to Republic, where flair bartenders made us try delicious Navan Martinis or sultry X-Rated Ringwald Martinis. The happy vibe was strong on Granville as we strolled to the South End of the strip to Crush for some devilish Lust, Pride and Wrath Martinis. March 22nd, 2008 - Gastown Martini Tour
The inaugural Gastown Martini Tour was a resounding success as 80 Martini lovers descended on Vancouver's oldest neighbourhood to try out the newest cocktails. The evening started out with Sin Winston Martinis and delicious Pursuit Martinis at the trendy Chill Winston, one of Gastown's newest joints. Chill Winston was followed by another of Gastown's new lounges - So.cial at Le Magasin. Chilled vodka martinis were accompanied by a bevy of fresh oysters, along with an assortment of creative cocktails - standouts included the Blueberry Chamomille Martini and the Vanilla-infused Pear Martini. It was then down to the historic CP Rail Station to the Transcontinental, a new restaurant carved out of the old Women's Waiting Lounge, which had been shuttered up for decades. Our private bar served tasty Lemon Drops, Cosmopolitans, and Green Bohemia Martinis. It wouldn't be a Vancouver Martini Tour if we didn't make a stop at the Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant, where we enjoyed the incredible view along with a few Midnight Moment and Sour Apple Martinis. The night ended in the heart of Gastown at the Modern Nightclub for some late-night mingling and dancing. We'll definitely be making a return to share a few more cocktails with Gassy Jack!

By all accounts, the January 15th Martini Tour was the most successful tour to date! The Martini Crew started at the Herons Lounge at the Waterfront Hotel at 6:30 pm. After a few martinis there, the Crew had grown to accommodate over 100 buzzed, beautiful cocktail drinkers. The inaugural Martini Tour took place at the beginning of the fall cocktailing season, where over 50 martini afficianados met to sample the best of Yaletown. Nevertheless, we met at the new Coast Restaurant at 6:45 pm, where the Crew started off with their fantastic BC Berry Martinis. Then at 7:45 pm it was on to Elixir at the Opus Hotel, where the 50 of us sampled their award-winning martinis among the beautiful and chic of Yaletown. At 9:00 pm we moved to the reserved back area of the jazz club Capones, where a few us, fuelled by the cocktails that had been consumed, began dancing and grooving to the live jazz. 9:45 pm saw the Crew, now over 60 strong, brave the monsoon rains and stroll on to the Afterglow lounge, one of Yaletown's best cocktails joints. At 10:30 pm we sampled the classic martinis of the Blue Water Cafe, and then at 11:15 pm we ended the night dancing at Club Vibes. All in all, the first Martini tour was a resounding success!
